Would you use a privacy-first app that analyzes multiple bank & credit card statements locally to categorize spending and detect subscriptions?
I’m researching whether this problem is worth solving before building anything.
Idea:
An app where you upload your bank or credit card statements (CSV or PDF) from multiple banks and cards. The app would:
• Categorize transactions automatically
• Detect recurring subscriptions (Netflix, SaaS, insurance, etc.)
• Combine spending across multiple banks/cards
• Show insights like monthly burn rate and category breakdown
• Work completely offline — all processing happens locally on your device
No bank account linking, no cloud processing, no data leaving your device.
This is mainly for people who:
• use multiple banks or credit cards
• don’t want to give apps access to their financial accounts
• want to analyze statements from previous years
Before spending weeks building this, I’d love honest feedback:
- Would you use something like this?
- Would uploading statements manually be a deal breaker?
- What feature would make this genuinely useful?
