3 year old ear and speech problems

Pediatrics

hello everyone. I am just looking to get some advice or suggestions. My son is 3 years old. It started when he was about 4.5 months. He got an ear infection. After that first infection he ended up having one after the other every month. We would finish antibiotics and with in 10 days it be back. We went to an ENT where they did test and discovered tons of fluid in his ears. At 8 months he was enrolled in early interventions due to the fluid effecting his balance. They also discovered that due to the fluid he was hearing like he was underwater. He got his first round of tubes and you could tell immediately he could hear better because he kept covering his ears whenever something was loud. Well a little over a month after tubes. His one tube fell out with an infection and that began the long journey of back to back ear infections again. One was so bad it lasted 2.5 months and 3 different antibiotics. He started speech therapy because he wasnt talking and because of the fluid it was probably hindering his ability to hear again. We met with the ENT again to go over options. They wanted to do a second round of Tubes and remove his adenoids to help reduce fluid build up. After those procedures we waited a month and they wanted to do a hearing test. He took the test and failed some frequencies. They wanted to test again in a few months. We went back again a few months later and he failed again. They said okay lest test again in a few months. Well months went by and his speech has not improved. I know he is little but his words are severely unclear they sound muffled. He constantly yells when he is trying to talk. Gets very frustrated when we cant understand him. It honestly seems he can not fully hear words. I have done research and everything he does points to being hard of hearing. It made the most sense. Well today he had his 3rd hearing test and PASSED. They said he can hear fine. Despite being happy to know his ears are fine I also find it sad as now I have no answers as so why he cant talk or sounds the way he does. My gut deep down is telling me he is still hard of hearing. But he passed so he cant he right? I am just at a loss. He wants so badly to communicate and I just want to help him. Any advice please ❤️
