Coming down with illness while feeling sick.
I work as a RN as an agency nurse for aged care homes.
I usually have between 30 -40 residents depending on the facility.
I feel a bit off all day and during my shift I had an episode of watery bowel movement.
I felt awful and told the NIC that I needed to go home and was told that she would take my temperature . My temp was fine so I was told to take gastrostop and that I had to stay and finish my shift.
The gastrostop did not work and I felt awful and distracted the whole shift . I ran very late because of having to run to the toilet multiple times.
I was told by another staff member if I left it would be patient abandonment and punishable by AHPRA
Is this true?
