Hot take: RWA isn’t going to Mars… and that might be the point

NEWS

Okay before someone drops 20 rocket emojis in the comments, hear me out.

Most of us came to crypto for velocity. Not 6% annualized anything. We came for charts that look like vertical lines and tokens that wake up 10x overnight.

But here’s the uncomfortable part.

A lot of “yield” the last cycles wasn’t yield. It was emissions. New tokens paying you in themselves. Price pumped because APY looked insane. APY looked insane because emissions were insane. Then unlock happened. Boom.

Mars turned into Earth real quick.

Now RWA stuff keeps creeping in. Structured lending. Tokenized credit. Fixed monthly payouts. I’ve been looking at 8lends specifically. Their whole angle is RWA-backed lending with predictable distributions.

Is that going to 50x? Probably not.

Is it trying to? Also probably not.

And that’s what’s interesting.

Instead of chasing vertical candles, it’s basically saying: here’s off-chain cashflow, distributed on-chain. Different risk. Credit risk instead of token inflation. Legal structure instead of pure smart contract math.

It’s boring. Almost suspiciously boring.

But after round-tripping gains a few times, a small boring allocation doesn’t sound completely stupid anymore.
