On my intent.
I say my intent is as below. what do you think it is?
I was temporarily banned on Reddit for three days from r/Christianity because of something I wrote in the middle of a long conversation about faith, internet culture, and moderation. The moderators interpreted a metaphor as a threat, so I’m reposting a clearer version of what I meant once the ban lifts.
The original point was simple: online spaces that discuss Christianity often end up suppressing the very testimony they claim to allow. Not because people are hostile to Christianity directly, but because anything that mixes faith with politics, prophecy, or strong language immediately gets flagged as “disruptive.” That tension creates a strange environment where believers are welcome only if they speak quietly and in a very narrow format.
What I was trying to do was testify, not threaten anyone and not disrupt the community. I was speaking about my own journey, the frustration of trying to discuss faith openly online, and the experience of being dismissed or moderated whenever religious conviction becomes uncomfortable for others. If that came across as dramatic or metaphorical, that’s because a lot of religious language historically is dramatic and symbolic.
I don’t claim authority or special revelation. I’m just a layperson trying to speak about faith in public spaces where belief is often treated as irrational or dangerous. Sometimes that means the language of scripture, prophecy, or lament appears in what I write, because that’s the vocabulary Christians have historically used to describe conflict, suffering, and hope.
So when I said things like “crucify me” or spoke in strong imagery, it was metaphorical—reflecting the idea that speaking openly about faith online often results in ridicule, bans, or hostility. That’s not persecution in any grand historical sense. It’s simply the modern version of disagreement and moderation on internet platforms.
My intention was not to attack the community or break rules. My intention was to testify honestly and speak about what it feels like to try to discuss faith in spaces where people expect religion to stay quiet.
If you read this far, give glory to God, not to me. I’m just another ordinary Christian trying to navigate faith in a very loud internet.
Christ is Lord.
