Got a Dji mic mini but it's quality is uh

So I got this DJI mic mini bluetooth version and I connected it to my phone and it sounded muffled, I tried everything to fix it but nothing works, if I buy a reciever separately, will it still be compatible? (I'm new when it comes to DJI products so sryy if this sounds dumb)
