Stop mixing up your Similarity Index with your AI Detection score. They are NOT the same thing.

I see common posts saying "My Turnitin score is 45%!" and everyone panics, but nobody asks which score.

Let's clarify:

  • Similarity Index Report: Matches your text to existing sources such as books, journals, and websites. High here means poor citation.
  • AI Writing Detection: Estimates if text was generated by AI. High here means robotic writing patterns.

You need to check both. A low similarity score with high AI detection is just as risky as plagiarism. Don't just focus on one number. Understand what you're actually being accused of before asking for help.
