Should I transfer?
I am a freshman at UVA and have had the worst first-year experience. To be quite honest, I have never really enjoyed living in Virginia because I am far away from the rest of my family and friends in Michigan. I applied as a transfer student to Umich and was accepted, and now that I actually have the option to go there, I'm starting to have second thoughts about leaving.
Part of the reason I haven't enjoyed my time at UVA is the fact that too many familiar faces (that I do not enjoy being around) have followed me there. I didn't get the fresh start that I had hoped for, and now feel trapped with the people around me. Additionally, I have developed severe anxiety and depression that has ruined a lot of events for me. Due to these negative experiences, I believe that starting over in a new state will help me, and I have a large support system in Michigan that I can count on. I'm just getting cold feet about the decision, and convincing my parents that it's a good idea is going to be difficult. Has anyone else made a transfer like this?
