How do I keep my beans fresh?

I have been making espresso for a little over a year now and have always had the concern of my coffee not staying fresh for long enough. I have a nice local coffee shop/roaster that I buy 5 lb bags of whole beans from because it saves so much money, and the coffee it still really good. I recently got a fellow atmos coffee container to keep the beans that I was using fresh, but I still had the rest of the bag of beans. The bag I very nice and resealable but I still do not think it is the best ways to store the beans. What do you guys think I should do?
