Questions about “ensouled vessels / statues”

Im new and was reading something and came across the concept of ensouled vessels, basically statues of the gods and they live in the statue, here are my questions:

1. Do your statues have to be ensouled to contact or properly worship the God?

2. How does it work and how do you know it has worked?

3. How do you take care of an ensouled statue?
