Had a psych evaluation today. Nervous about results

Today, I had a psych evaluation that was scheduled with the intent of ruling out schizoaffective disorder (my psych suspects schizophrenia instead.)

The psych I saw said I “check all the boxes” for schizophrenia but that she would also consider psychotic depression, although she conceded that my psychotic symptoms don’t seem to manifest as a result of my depression.

I’ve been so prepared to accept a schizophrenia diagnosis after previously being diagnosed as schizoaffective, but now I’m almost afraid of having to adjust to yet another new diagnosis if it is psychotic depression.

Has anyone ever been through similar? I’m freaking out a little bit and am super anxious over the uncertainty.

She said I should have results tomorrow or the next day.

Anyone have a similar experience? Not asking for a diagnosis obviously, just wondering if anyone has similarly had multiple diagnoses thrown at you over time.
