Ima just copy from ChatGPT cause I'm too lazy to write it all myself (I've proof read it though, so the information should be correct in historic events)

Turning Syracuse into an almost impregnable fortress.

* Built massive walls across the **Epipolae plateau**, creating layered defensive lines.
* Integrated the harbor, island of Ortygia, and high ground into a unified defensive system.
* Secured Ortygia as his fortified political core

Rather than fight Carthage recklessly, he:

* Signed treaties when necessary to rebuild strength.
* Used ceasefires to rearm and expand fortifications.
* Reorganized the army and navy before going on the offensive.

Dionysius invested in:

* Development of early **catapults (gastraphetes-type torsion artillery)**
* Advanced siege towers
* Large quinquereme warships

Instead of relying purely on citizen soldiers:

* He built a large mercenary army loyal to him personally.
* Distributed land and rewards to secure loyalty.
* Reduced internal political threats.

This gave him:

* Operational flexibility
* Rapid mobilization
* Independence from Syracuse’s traditional elites

Dionysius didn’t limit himself to Sicily. He:

* Founded colonies in southern Italy and the Adriatic.
* Secured trade routes.
* Established influence among Illyrian and Italian peoples.

The famous “Ear of Dionysius” cave legend (likely later embellishment) reflects something real:

* He ruled with strong internal surveillance.
* Maintained tight personal security.
* Understood the danger of coups.

Again, I made ChatGPT formulate the information, so that's probably why your sensors went on here lol.
Information should be correct though.

I've got him well above Light in most cats (ready to debate)

Where do you scale Dionysius I of Syracuse in Planning and Strategy?
