sd card trouble

i have a kodak easyshare cx7525, and im having difficulty with the sd card. I bought it secondhand, so its possible there is some sort of damage or bug. looks fine from the outside. the sd card is only 1GB which says online it's the camera's max. when i insert the card, it says "needs to be formatted" and i click continue, and then it says "formatting will delete all files" and again i click continue, and then it says it's formatting for a second, but ultimately just sends me back to the first screen. I have tried formatting the card through my computer, but when I insert it, it doesn't appear in file explorer like my other sd cards. is there something wrong with the card itself? is it not compatible with my camera? what should i do?
