If you were Pettersson, with a manager like JR and Allvin - How would you feel or respond?
It's been multiple comments like this "Petey has to do better" and "We expect more" from the President JR and GM PA.
Tochett before literally one season was:
- "I'm working with Miller on his fire, it's good for him and the team. Miller commented on how it was helping him too."
and my favourite when he forgets about last season managing that with Miller, then the next season it's:
- "I go into the room, and the guys are doing the talking so I don't feel I have to. It's good, so that they don't tune me out from talking too much".
(then there's rumours, some say even confirmations, that they asked Miller to "toughen" him up)
So Tochett brought out that fire in Miller, then let him do the talking wherever he saw fit, and management thought it was a good idea or maybe didn't even think about this at all.
Then there's all the injuries with Petey, him nursing his knee at the four nations visibly on camera. Then and still, the management and coach aren't recognizing this or saying we're getting him the expert help that we can, to help support him through this.
Maybe it was a fever dream, but I swear there's such thing as general managers and front offices that support their team, where the culture starts from the top brass, and they recommend investments for the team owners to make in team experts, so that player development goes well and their team asset then brings in more profits. What business owner says no?
This whole organization is just so toxic... and even with the Aquilini group at the helm.. I can't imagine that they're this involved in micromanagement telling the GMs to treat their team this way?
And listen, I'm not defending Petey or saying this is the reason why he's not doing well. Who knows why. I just know that if I was in his shoes, I probably would feel the same way, passion lost, and just not happy about going into work.
They seem to keep trying to same things over and over again, benching him, calling him out publicly, letting team mates call him out, whatever - but it's not working and it's insanity trying it over and over again.
I want to see them talk about the expert help he's getting like they finally broke down to give to Demko (two years too late I think). Help him with his skating, maybe that expert hip doctor that was here consulting for Demko's case, takes a look at Petey. Expert nutritionalists, pysio, mental therapists, etc... but that's not the case, no talk about the support Petey gets.
This isn't the culture I want to see here, I don't think anyone does.
If this was any other job, this would be considered a complete failure for proper management and disastrous for company morale, and culture.
