Do any other women 40+ want a life partner but haven’t met anyone they want in that role yet?

I sometimes fantasize about having someone to share my life with, go to events with, watch movies with, sleep with, etc. But I find it extremely difficult to find anyone whom I want to do this with. I have met people who appeared promising and then down the line I noticed things that made me say “nah”.

I’m curious how others manage this ambivalence.
