Coming off seroquel with help of psych
Hi. I’ve been on seroquel for about 6 years. At first, I took 50mg on an as-needed basis, which pretty quickly became daily. I then got upped to 400mg for depression, which precipitated a breakdown that resulted in me going on medical leave and eventually losing my job. Wasn’t all because of the seroquel, but I think it was part of it. My psych reduced my dose to 100mg, and I stayed on for about a year and a half. I am now titrating down further, with the eventual goal of being off it completely due to the havoc it has wreaked on my body. Not looking for medical advice of any kind, that’s just all context.
Now that I’m off the seroquel, I am feeling a lot more present, which is really nice. It doesn’t feel like mania or hypomania, but rather just like an ability to stay engaged in conversation more, and to feel emotions more clearly. I know this is probably one of the most posted about topics on here, but just thought I’d open up some discussion and hear other people’s experiences with it.
