Well, 💩

Insurance

MJ has been a life changer for me. I started in July of 2025 and dropped 70 pounds over about 6 months. I've been maintaining my 170ish number for about a month now on 10mg every 10 days. I was just about to go down to 7.5mg every 10 days and my insurance has started asking for a prior authorization all of the sudden. At no other time have they required one. My doctor provided them with all of the info they requested and their denied me.

Seems NOW it's a problem that my doc didn't start me on any other diabetes meds first. We went straight to MJ. My A1C was elevated enough to get approved for it at the time (6.7) and I'm almost certainly in a healthier place now. But, they're insisting we try something else now. I'm trying to get my doc to prescribe metformin for a month and then try MJ again to see if they'll approve it.

Anyone have any experience with this? These prescription benefit managers are the worst...I haven't gotten labs drawn since last June. I figure I'll get some done this Friday or next Monday. What's the worst that can happen? They deny me because my A1C looks good now? They've already denied me. At least then, I'll be able to show that MJ was doing it's job.

Thoughts?
