If Sentient AI was possible, would they see Generative AI the same way Humans see primates?

Like, in the modern age, we Humans see Chimps as distant relatives cause we both come from a common ancestor.

If Sentient AI were a thing, then the same could be said about it and Gen AI; they both originated from a basic common ancestor found in their code.

So would they see Generative AI like ChatGPT the same way we humans see other primates? An offshoot of a common ancestor?
