Plants and cats, how do you handle it?

General

Ive recently adopted a kitten upon my dog's passing, as our house felt empty. Right now, he is confined to a certain area of the house for adjustment purposes, but I'm wondering how you all handle having house plants with your cats.

For some context, my mum, who I live with, is a crazy plant lady, I'm talking hundreds inside and outside, absolutely everywhere, it's like a jungle here. I'm fully aware and was aware that there are lots of plants that aren't good for cats, ranging in toxicity levels from mild to the level that lilies are.

Now I want to preface by saying we do not have any plants that are deadly toxic to cats. I, of course, did my research and my mum and I are well aware that we will have to make some adjustments to the house and layout upon taking our little man home.

My question basically is, how do you practically protect your cat from harm in a house with lots of plants? Have you trained your kitty not interact with plants? Have you changed the layout? etc.

I would also like to know people's opinions on the sites listing plants 'toxic' to cats? Part of my brain feels as though they fear monger a bit, as some of them merely may cause a slight upset tummy (which obv i dont want), but i dont know lol I just feel like some over exaggerate the danger certain plants cause.

eager to hear all of your advice and personal experiences! tia xxx
