Business/Data Analyst wanting to move abroad, practical next steps?

Advice

Hi everyone,

I’m a woman in my late 20s from India with a tech background, currently working in a business/data analyst type role involving data analysis and some business-facing responsibilities.

Over time, I’ve realized that I don’t enjoy coding and don’t see myself moving into a developer role long term.

I come from a middle-class background, so financial decisions carry significant weight for me. One thing I’m sure about is that I’d like to live and work outside India at some point, both for international exposure and better earning opportunities.

Right now, I feel stuck between two options:

  1. Studying abroad: I’ve thought about pursuing a postgraduate degree in a more stable or career-oriented field, but I’m unsure which direction would make sense given my background. The high cost of studying abroad also makes this option risky for me financially.

  2. Finding a job abroad directly: I’m open to this path, but I’m not sure how realistic it is without highly specialized or niche skills that would justify visa sponsorship.

I’m trying to make a practical decision within the next year or so but feel unsure about which paths are actually viable.

Has anyone transitioned abroad from a similar background without taking on massive education loans? What realistic options, skills, or career paths should I be looking into?

I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences. Thank you!
