Who is the main character of the Red Dead series as a whole?

I asked some fellow RDR fan friends the same question, here are some arguments given.

First, the obvious one, John. John is the main character of the first game, and I had an argument that the second game was meant to be a backstory for John.

Second, Arthur. He is the main character of the second, and he is (arguably) the most developed and diverse character in the game, though he doesn’t have much significance to the final outcome of the game.

Next, Jack. A few people argued he is the main character because he is a personal favorite for most people. The whole gang fought to keep him alive and raise him, all leading to the final outcome of Jack killing Ross.

Finally, Red Harlow. Only one argued this, as I said “Red Dead” and not “Red Dead Redemption.” He is the main character of the very first game, so he is a contender for the “Red Dead” main character.

Anyway, I’m curious to hear your opinions on the topic, as well as new arguments.
