Going to admit feelings
This is a long one so, brace yourselves…
For the last six months me and my coworker have had this dynamic, teasing, mild flirting, but never going past the point of plausible deniability; I’m tired of pretending like there’s nothing between us- he might know I like him because I stutter and get red like a tomato around him- whereas everyone I carry my head around high around. He’s the only one I cannot fake confidence around, he always cares about how I feel, how I’m doing, always offers support. His job makes him extremely busy, so the fact he would even make time to offer to help me with my job when it’s way out of his wheelhouse makes me melt, ugh, this man the sweetest.
Even when he’s extremely monotoned and cringe, I still can’t help but think about him. The issue is, I’m afraid. Of our age and power imbalances. He’s older than me by a decade and a supervisor (not my direct supervisor). I want to admit feelings but I don’t want to ruin our “thing“, but I don’t want him to keep giving me the wrong impression. If he doesn’t want to keep continuing to “feed” what it is, he has a right to know- and I just can’t keep it to myself. Even if we don’t fall in love and kiss or embrace- at least that’s one weight off my chest. But I am afraid, I trust him with this but what if someone overhears?
Im not sure what to do, I feel like telling him is best thing but Im worried about my job. I don’t want to pressure him or be creepy- I just want to get rid of this burden and allow it to be known. Good, bad or otherwise. Of course, I wish it goes in the positive direction but he could have someone else waiting for him at home, or he’s not attracted to me and Im reading the situation wrong. Either way, I need to tell him. I’m just scared.
