Opinions on The “No Kill” Rule?

What are your first thoughts/reactions on a character with the “no kill” rule? Whats the opinion on if said character should break that rule or not? I know characters like Spider-Man and Batman people mostly hate if they were to kill. Do you like it if a character has a reasonable arc towards killing or do you think it’s best when they stick with their rule?
