In 2024, I got to score a beautiful feature documentary - STRONGER THAN THE WAVE, directed by Robbie McKane.

The film charts a journey along Japan’s Michinoku Coastal Trail, documenting its rugged and ethereal landscape, and the recovery of the communities affected by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

I made about 40 minutes of music for the film - ambient guitar textures, tape loops, swirling artefacts, minimalistic bass patterns and percussion.

Instead of composing strictly to picture, I was allowed to write in a freeform way - experimenting and improvising material until we had something to fit every scene. It was an incredibly serene composing experience, and I loved living in the world of it.

My soundtrack album is now available on the Long Cat Media Bandcamp: https://longcatmedia.bandcamp.com/album/stronger-than-the-wave

There are also two screenings of the film in London very soon:

1 March - Japan House https://www.japanhouselondon.uk/whats-on/stronger-than-the-wave/

28 April - Little Venice Film Festival.
