Extremely discouraged from torrential downpour washout

Northern US & Canada (or cool season)

I reside in north Texas near the Oklahoma border and I recently spent over $300 preparing my bare dirt lawn for turf type tall fescue. I put down seed, went over it with a roller and put down a layer of peat moss about 5 days ago. Today it started to germinate with beautifully even coverage across my 2,000 square foot yard and started getting seedlings everywhere. Tonight we just received an inch of water in 20 minutes from a severe thunderstorm with flash flooding all over town. Sounded like hail pounding on the roof from how big the droplets are. It’s too dark to see the damage but I’m fairly confident the seedlings are toast. I can see a puddle of water across the whole yard but that’s about it. I’m so upset to have spent all that money for basically nothing. I know the obvious answer is to re seed and put more peat moss down and try again. But there’s gotta be something I can do to help with this in the future? I’m feeling terribly discouraged and like I’m fighting an up hill battle.
