Diapers/pads for postpartum

I’m 32 weeks and I’m wanting to start prepping for postpartum! I have most of my stuff for padsicles except for the pad! I’ve seen where some people use diapers and some use maxi pads. What worked best for you guys? I want to get opinions before I go buy some.
