I used to see these online but I never saw them out in the wild. I caught up to one and it was in less than stellar shape. The zipper pull was pulled with plastic string. There were nicks and cuts on one of the sleeves. Also some wear and tear on the neck section of the loning. Lining could use a good cleaning as well. I bought it.

First thing i did was replace the sad plastic wore zipper pull with a classic brass YKK. Fixing zipper pulls is much easier than I thought and doesn't require a new zipper.

I made a cleaning solution and went over the lining rubbing out what stains I could. Then i took a tooth brush and cut the bristles in half. The shorter the bristles the stronger your stroke. Ran the brush along all the seams to dislodge any dust and debris. Turned the jacket inside out, spray witha fabric spray amd some rubbing alcohol and let it dry in the sun

Then I used leather cleaner strip the shell of any residue and dirt. After cleaning that way i went over it with a microfiber rag and some sneaker leather cleaner from those mall kiosks. I conditioned the leather and let it air dry

Next I got some leather repair gel and laid down a few coats. It worked really well if you lay down a coat, give ot a few hours to cure then lay another coat down. If i didnt lay it down myself I would be hard pressed to find it.

After all the curong and drying the coat was in good structural shape but it didnt glisten. It needed some life. So i got some petroleum jelly and worked it into the entire surface. If you ise olive oil you run the risk of it clumping or beong uneven. The leather will absorb it but it wont be able to distribute underneath evenly. Petroleum jelly will absorb and give it a real shine without staining or clumping. As always try a non visible part first to see the effects.

I like it a lot man I have it on the market for a flip but I might keep it. It looks really good now. Peace.
