21-Year WoW Veteran Seeking Clarity on Banned Accounts

:flairDiscussion: Discussion

Greetings.

Two of my WoW accounts were closed during the final night of the Lunar New Year event for the category “Unauthorized Cheat Programs.” I do not use — and have never used — third-party software, broadcasting tools, or automation.

During the event I was running multiple WoW clients on the same machine and manually alt-tabbed between them to collect Coins of Ancestry. I was also using the Hivemind mount with four attuned characters, which made quest pickup very fast since I didn’t need to dismount. That is the only behavior I can identify that may have looked unusual.

I appealed and received a response that the action would not be overturned, with no additional details. I understand that automation detection is necessary and that bots are a real problem - but if a false positive happens, is there truly no recourse?

I’ve had an active subscription for nearly 22 years. I waited in line in 2004 for a shot at the vanilla Collector's Edition. I’ve played since launch, attended BlizzCon, met incredible people, and made lifelong friends through this community. My children had just started playing with me.

This game has been part of my life for a long time, so this ending feels abrupt and confusing. I’m genuinely sad.

If anyone has insight into how these detections work, or whether further review is ever possible at this stage, I’d appreciate it.
