Thinking about getting the retaliation cadre box

I’m thinking about starting a tau army and specifically a farsight enclave army. What would be the best stuff to get alongside the box?

Also side note, I got the farsight blade of truth book not knowing it was the third of the trilogy which I feel stupid for, but how much would I miss if I didn’t read the first two?
