How much does school matter in Canada

Im a high schooler just graduating this year from an Ontario high school Student going to a Canadian University in Ontario and I wanted to know what to start now to be able to a land a co op in uni wherever I go.

1. What advice and guidance would you give a high schooler just graduating to be able to land an internship at either RBC or Shopify in either 2nd or 3rd year uni
2. Does school matter and how to maximise your experience if you dont end up going to University of Toronto or waterloo, does grinding make up for the school name in Toronto?
