These awful horrible headphones maybe once a week stops connecting and needs to be factory reset
I usually don't have the case with me, but sometimes having the case with the magnet inside it helps, but for the most part if it starts working you just need to hit both buttons, clear the AirPods Max from bluetooth, and then pair them again to get it to start working. I have to do this over and over and over.
These headphones never seem to completely break and free me from their grasp, they are just on the verge of not being quite bad enough to throw out yet good enough to not be worth getting rid of.
This is on top of the other bizarre bugs. Audio won't come through AirPods Max but the volume button pauses and plays video? The volume controls and pause/play don't work but audio does? It's always a crapshoot with the AirPods Max. I have never had anywhere NEAR this level of bugs with the AirPods Pro 2/3.
I have never used an Apple product which is quite this bad in my life.
Oh yeah, let's talk about the headband. The headband is designed to be user replaceable but Apple doesn't acutally provide a SKU for replacement. The only ones you can find online cost like $200USD. Yet the headband is a wear item and eventually it wears out so much that after a year the rubber covered metal rods are just sitting directly on your head. It got so uncomfortable I put a cheap $10 silicon sleeve on it YEARS ago and it has remained there since, this ugly piece of silicone patching a design flaw on a $550 pair of headphones.
Oh yeah, they're also heavy and they also have the worst battery life of any wireless headphones I have ever tried. The competition simply has better battery life, they just do, in fact the competitions headphones are better in pretty much every way at being headphones.
This isn't tech support. This isn't me asking a question. I just hate these headphones with a passion. I bought them just because they had automatic switching between apple devices, these are the ONLY HEADPHONES in the ENTIRE WORLD which can swap between a tablet, a laptop, a desktop, a TV, a watch, and a phone rapid-fire. This is a unique feature which has so much value to me that I invested not just in a $550 pair of headphones, but buying into the Apple ecosystem for thousands upon thousands of dollars.
It's just a shame the only headphones in the world that have what I consider to be an amazing feature are buggy pieces of crap, with a major design flaw in the headband, which are too heavy, which have below-average battery life, and just suck so so so badly. If you're thinking of buying these, just buy the AirPods Pro, they are so much better. If you really want to buy headphones, wait a few years for them to fix this, it's not worth the steep cost.
