I just got this in email from the NY Medical Cannabis Industry Association. I am in my 70s and disabled, also caring for a partner who is not ambulatory, so I'm unlikely to shlep to Albany. But maybe there are people in this sub who would be able to go, so I'm sharing. Because the bottom line is, we can complain here on Reddit, but Albany is where the sausage gets made. | NYMCIA has scheduled its Lobby Days at the state Capitol in Albany on March 17 & 18, 2026, where we will call on the governor and legislative leaders step up to save the struggling medical cannabis program. We need your voice! We’re looking for patients who are willing to share their stories about how medical cannabis has changed their lives for the better and talk about the difficulties they are experiencing in getting the products they need. Sign up to learn more! |

| Despite the state taking recent positive steps towards improving the affordability of critical medical-grade product, New York’s medical cannabis program is still in crisis. Dispensaries are closing by the day, and patients are paying the price. Without further timely changes from state lawmakers during the current legislative session, patients will continue to suffer. Eliminating New York state’s 3.15% medical excise tax is NYMCIA’s top state budget priority in Albany this year. We need patients to share their stories with lawmakers – and, if you’re willing, with reporters - to increase patient access to safe and effective treatment options that cannot be found in the adult-use cannabis market. If you participate, NYMCIA will cover your travel and food expenses. Let us know if you can join us! |
