Tips for handling husband traveling

Seeking Advice

My husband of 14 years started a new job on the 23.

He went from working 3 day shifts to he started a new job that’s 5 days a week on the 23rd, to learning on day 2 that he would be traveling for TWO WEEKS that same week on Saturday.

Essentially, he has not had a day off and at home with our family.

He has never had a job that required traveling and he has known that’s something I have always voiced against. I feel strongly about having my husband home each night.

He’s not set to come home until the 15th and is missing our son’s birthday, and I just learned he’s planning on going back out in April.

He is LOVING this new job. The company is treating him great, comping everything for him, he’s traveling, meeting new people, etc. He is so happy.

But I’m miserable. I feel selfish right now, but I don’t want this lifestyle. And he is aware of it. But after being at a job for 7 years without feeling appreciated, he’s feeling alive at his new job and wants to shine.

I don’t have friends around, and we have 5 kids (youngest is 10, so thankfully they’re a little bit older now). So I stay occupied during the day, but it doesn’t take away that I miss him and I feel alone and lost.

I feel like I am grieving the life we created. He won’t leave this job. He has been applying for over a year for this position and pay and has not found it anywhere else, and he is genuinely happy.

Any advice on how to get over the “wanting my husband home daily” to accept this new lifestyle?
