You lied
I know you don’t care about me you’ve shown me in every way, even if you’ve never said the words. I know your silence should be enough, but the moments when I thought you did care still echo in my mind daily.
The hardest part is seeing you so often. I notice the way your eyes squint and mouth pucker when I say the wrong thing, how sometimes you move to the other side of the room when I walk in. And then, once in a while, you come so close I can almost remember what it felt like to have your lips on mine.
Some days I regret crushing our blossoming friendship. Other days I can’t stop imagining being in your arms again. Maybe if I hadn’t gone with you that night, we could have grown to be great friends. Instead, I live with you being right there, yet impossibly far away.
Your distance and your actions have hurt me more than you know. And every time our eyes meet, I remember the night you said we could work and I replied we couldn’t. I was right, you lied. Why am I disappointed?
