I will just start off by saying that it's not my favorite battle of the prequels but I feel like it's the most misunderstood battle in Star Wars. On a first watch you might be confused as to why yoda just doesn't get back up and chase after Palpatine to stop him (his only chance to prevent what is to come). but when you think about how/why the prequels are set up in such a drastically different way than the originals you start to understand something. Start Wars is all about imperialism/fascism in this sci-fi universe, the prequel's slowburn polical subplot was supposed to raise a red flag from the start. It wasn't executed perfectly sure but it's one of the reason Yoda vs Palpatine hits harder for me imo. Palpatine had already called for order 66, Yoda was challenging HIM for which side of the force was going to rule the galaxy after Palpatine essentially crippled Yoda's entire army (generals, soldiers, younglings). Yoda's strength in the force was always stronger than Palpatine but that doesn't mean anything to man who manipulates from all the sides. machinates political structures out of thin air to do his bidding. a moment that illustrates this the most was Palpatine LITERALLY throwing senate seats from above and raining down destruction while laughing maniacally. He's not only physically using the senate as a weapon but he already got their approval for emergency power to rule above the senate. essentially controlling the senate and using them in the OG trilogy to rain destruction on the entire galaxy. This fight has too much foreshadowing to even the the dissolution of the Senate when almost everything in the room was destroyed, only for Palpatine to use his political power to get away from Yoda and stand on top. In his heart I think Yoda knew he needed another way of defeating Palpatine since brute force could never outsmart him and Palpatine had already won by having control of a Galaxy with no more Jedi. Yoda did have a lot of character development because of that fight, if Yoda had never met an enemy that could lie and deceive so well. He would have never been forced to use the tools of his enemies to defeat them (lying and deceiving Luke while training him). Even the way Yoda escaped through the vents and electrical networks after fight did not fit with his character at all. It felt more like something Palpatine would resort to so he could escape. Maybe im tying this too much to Luthen's speech in Andor but the Parallels between Palpatine and Yoda only feel their strongest at the end of ep 3/trilogies.

in conclusion this fight has a lot of symbolism people are ignoring and perfectly reasonable explanations/foreshadowings to moments that happen in the OG trilogy and I'm tired of people not giving this fight the love it deserves.

Yoda vs. Palpatine is deeply misunderstood and it's passing me off
