Passed Amazon internship interview and got “inclined” but no offer — has this happened to anyone?

Hey everyone,

I recently went through the interview process for an Operations Engineer Intern position at Amazon. I interviewed back in December, so I’ve been waiting for an update for a few months.

I finally received an email saying that I successfully passed the interview and the interviewers were impressed with my skills, but they can’t move forward with an offer right now because the intern class for the location might already be full.

They said they’d like to stay in touch in case a spot opens up before the summer internship period starts.

What confused me a bit is that earlier in the process another recruiter told me that I would likely receive an offer soon, so I was pretty surprised when I later received this update.

I asked if there were other locations or roles where my incline could apply, but they said there aren’t any other internships available for that and I would need to reapply and go through the interview process again.

For context, I’m a computer engineering student, and this was an internship I was really excited about.

Has anyone experienced something similar with Amazon or received an offer later after being inclined?

  • Does “inclined but no offer” sometimes turn into an offer later?
  • Is it worth waiting, or should I just move on and apply elsewhere?

Thanks!
