Context:
 Basement was renovated. Hatch was made by contractor to cover main cleanout and an old sump. It wasnt a very good hatch. He rushed and it started bending inwards with foot traffic. To access it, we had ti use something to pry it up, which would damage the flooring. Our basement flooded and we redid the flooring. This time, I made a new hatch myself using 3/4" plywood and a 16 gauge steel sheet, screwed and glued to the board (see photo). I used steel so i can use magnets to lift the hatch up without damaging flooring. I was going to shore up, or shim the hatch seat to be flush with the flooring when flooring guy got close to it. He said he'd do it. I was skeptical because of the last contractor.

  Came home today to this (photos). The hatch isnt even flush. My toddlers and us would cut our feet on this. The edges arent even straight. This looks like trash. The gaps could be smaller because I'm using the magnets, and it wouldnt look so bad if the cuts were actually straight and the hatch was flush.
  My question to you is How hard is it to cut vinyl flooring straight? Im a tradesman and if I did work like this, I'd be let go. I dont do flooring though, so I dont know how it cuts. This flooring guy used the last of my flooring up, so now I have to buy more flooring, and take off the planks surrounding the hatch. I have to peel off the construction glued planks from the hatch and sand it to the steel. Redoing work is so much worse. I dont trust this guy to fix it properly. Might as well do it myself. Can any experienced people here shed light on this? Am I overreacting? 

This seems unacceptable.
