the eat the frog thing was killing my momentum so i started doing the opposite

everyone says tackle your hardest task first but that was making me freeze up completely. id stare at my to do list knowing i should start with the big scary thing and just... not start at all.

tried something backwards last week. started my work day with the easiest stupidest task i could find. answering one email. renaming a file. anything that takes 30 seconds and requires zero brain power.

turns out once im already moving the hard stuff feels less impossible. its like tricking my brain into work mode without the pressure of immediately doing something difficult.

now my mornings look like this. make coffee. do one brain dead task. suddenly im 20 minutes into actual work without realizing it happened.

the whole eat the frog advice assumes you have infinite willpower at 9am. i dont. i have barely functional pre coffee brain that needs to ease into things.

starting small doesnt mean im lazy it just means im working with how my brain actually functions instead of fighting it.

anyone else find that doing the hardest thing first just made them avoid starting altogether or is that just me
