[Question] Is the 1 room grid tech still used ?

Last time i ve played (2018) I knew that there was a strat where you could just make a grid of 1 rooms and basically rush them all to get a very large quantity of caps very fast. Did something change in the meanwhile ? Is this method still used ? Why people are not preffering it. Most of the layouts i see do not make use of the small rooms. Thank you !
