Sci-fi about Earth’s atmosphere catching fire feat. Gog, world’s first trillionaire
[LOOKING] it’s a children’s sci-fi novel — villain named “Gog,” world’s first trillionaire, Earth’s atmosphere catching fire, moon colony.
I’ve been trying to track down a book I read as a child (sometime in the mid-2000s though the book might be older) and can’t find any trace of it online. Nothing. Here’s everything I remember:
∙ Genre/audience: Science fiction written for roughly 3rd–5th grade readers. Short — probably under 200 pages.
∙ Villain: A man named Gog, who is the world’s richest person and the first-ever trillionaire. He’s not cartoonishly evil — more of a greedy corporate type.
∙ Central threat: Earth’s atmosphere is in danger of catching fire (possibly igniting due to some industrial or corporate activity).
∙ Setting: Takes place in the future. The moon plays a significant role — I believe there is some kind of lunar colony or moon-based element.
∙ Protagonist: A child.
∙ Cover: I believe the cover featured an illustration of Earth as seen from space, engulfed in flames.
∙ Other details: The book was likely out of print even when I read it. I read it in Spain but it was in English — possibly a British or American publication. I got it secondhand.
I’ve tried searching extensively and come up empty. Any help identifying this would be hugely appreciated!
