If women being cautious of men after being a victim or physical or sexual violence is reasonable and okay, it should be equally reasonable for those who have been victims of the same from trans women, not claimed transphobic.
To start: this is not a post about hating trans women or questioning them as women, removal of rights or anything of the sort. I'm not here for that. Despite my story, as a normal headed person, I support my trans sisters and all my trans siblings in the world. But I have noticed, as someone who has had multiple SA experiences from multiple trans women specifically, that it seems like a silenced topic. Like victims are not allowed to be victims because they're trans. It's rational to be cautious of people you and others you know have had bad experiences with. People aren't dog phobic for being scared a dog might bite them. It never has and never well mean every dog bites, or even the majority. It just means some do, and you don't know which until the teeth are sunk in.
No, I'm not saying let's go on a witch hunt for trans women and go "everyone is a rapist!" Especially from people who have not actually been in that situation, but more let's actually let victims speak and not call them transphobic for following caution, especially if it's not been a one-time occurrence for them. There are bad eggs in every single group you can put people in on this earth. Cis, trans, men, women, enbies and otherwise, white, black, Asian, gay, bi, straight, aro, ace, nerds, jocks, disabled, able bodied... every single one has some bad people in it. Let's not pretend a victim speaking out is an attack. Let's not pretend someone taking caution to not let it happen twice is a crime. Feel free to focus on the non-victims who want to use it as a space to shit on trans people. I'll join you in pushing them back down.
Finally, I also know majority of trans people would hear a story of SA or violence and focus on, "oh my god that's terrible I'm sorry" rather than "well you can't say that it goes against us" but let's face it, as with every few bad people in every group I've mentioned so far, they usually have the loudest presence in the conversation. I get that the topic is harder because there's a bias put out that this is all trans women identify as women for which is not the case, but that doesn't mean victims should feel like they have to be silent to be supportive.
