Thinking about starting a community club. Would anyone be interested?

Ask Windsor

I’ve been thinking a lot about community lately.

A lot of people are struggling right now. The cost of living is high, jobs feel less stable than they used to, and many of the social supports and gathering places that people relied on in the past just aren’t as strong anymore.

Because of that, a lot of us are trying to manage life mostly on our own. And it’s exhausting.

I started wondering whether our community might benefit from something simple. Maybe a kind of local club where people meet regularly, learn things from each other, and work on small projects that make the community a little stronger.

Something like Girl Guides or Boy Scouts, but for adults. A place where people can learn practical skills, understand how local systems work, help with community projects, and get to know their neighbours better. (We could even have badges, if ya’ll want lol).

I actually have a lot of ideas about how something like this could be structured/designed. Where I could use help is getting something like this started in the real world and connecting with others who’d want to help build it.

If something like this existed locally, would people be interested? And if anyone has experience organizing groups or community projects, I’d really appreciate hearing from you. If there’s enough interest, maybe we could start with a small meetup just to talk about what this could look like.
