To steelman Hutch's position on reform

Destiny Content/Podcasts

Let me try to steel man hutch's position here. I don't think he's saying reform guarantees anything and I agree with destiny we need more then reform we need accountability but hutch was saying yeah trump broke a lot of shit but there is still some shit keeping him in check. If we add more laws that make it more time consuming and difficult for a future trump to break the system that's a net positive right?

Analogy: let's think of American democracy as a jungle. A jungle thick with branches to break through. Trump has broken through a lot of those branches but not all. Hutch is basically saying add more branches so It takes longer and more effort to break through the system.

Now I think in the best world we have both. We have reforms and we have accountability. Destiny actually got me sold on the whole turn a parking ticket for a Republican to as big as you can get it criminally. I'd probably agree with destiny on a lot of things and disagree on some but I think that's what hutch was saying.

I love both of these guys I'm just scared we're gonna get to the place of where the DGG'ers hate hutch and I don't want that to happen. People in chat were calling hutch bad faith. I think he wants democracy too he just has different views on things.

This was actually a really good debate and the most intellectually stimulating one in a minute, next time they just gotta stop talking over each other and strawmanning
