Why the Speed Title isn’t enough: It’s time for a real Cruiserweight Division.

Discussion

I know the first thing everyone will say is "We already have the Speed Title," but let’s be real: a 3-minute Twitter/X match isn't a division. It’s a fun gimmick, but it doesn't solve the problem of how WWE books its smaller athletes on the actual TV shows.

The Believability Gap

The roster is currently dominated by literal tanks. You have Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, and the "Return of the Brons" looming—Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed are absolute forces of nature.

As much as I love workrate, it is physically hard to buy a program where Dragon Lee or Akira Tozawa is trading power moves with a guy like Bronson Reed. Those guys are built to steamroll people. Without a dedicated title, the smaller guys just become high-level "enhancement" talent for the giants.

The Talent is Too Good to Waste

The athleticism we're seeing right now is on another level, and these guys deserve 15-minute "bangers" on Raw, SmackDown, or NXT—not just 180-second sprints:

• J’von Evans: A literal human highlight reel. He’s a star in the making.

• NXT Newcomers: Guys like Elio LaFleur and Ricky Saints are showing insane potential, but they’re going to hit a size-based glass ceiling the second they move up.

• The Veterans: Dragon Lee and Tozawa are world-class, but they need a platform where they aren't just "the small guy" in a David vs. Goliath story every week.

Speed vs. Cruiserweight

The Speed Title is about the clock. A Cruiserweight Title is about the weight class.

Think back to the WCW Nitro era or the peak of the 205 Live tournament. It wasn't just about going fast; it was about technical wizardry, high-risk dives, and a style of wrestling that the heavyweights simply can’t do.

Give them their own throne. Let them have the "Match of the Night" every week without having to worry about how they'd survive a Tsunami or a Spear from the "Brons."

What do you guys think? Is the Speed Title enough of a "fix," or do we need a legitimate weight-class division to give these guys the respect they deserve?
