Using Pet Fur for Needlefelting

I took a 4-hour seminar in needlefelting, and the instructor mentioned that many people use their pet’s fur in needlefelting. I have a rabbit that I would love to use her fur, but I don’t know quite how to go about it. Rabbits vary a lot in fur—hers is 1” to 1-1/2” long and quite soft (not angora). Thanks for any ideas!
