Is there any concern for a vaccinated person in their late 60s to contract measles if they have exposure?
My mom (in her late 67) is planning on taking a beach trip in about month with a friend to SC. Due to it being Spring break, I'm concerned that she likely could be in proximity to large numbers of people that could have measles. She doesn't remember having a known measles infection as a child but is vaccinated. She recently had her titers checked.
I lived in Brooklyn during the 2018-2019 measles outbreak and almost 100 percent had exposure. So I have extreme trust in the vaccine but at the same time it's nagging at me for my mom to potentially have exposure due to her age. We live in NC and are in close proximity to the outbreak so I'm hearing about it constantly so perhaps I'm just letting it make me paranoid. Also my father had it as a child and it just sounds so nasty. He said he was sickly for like 4 years afterwards.
