Emergency vet or can wait til tomorrow?
We adopted a 6 year old cat from our local shelter yesterday morning. He’s been here for a day and a half. He’s playing, eating, drinking, urinating, had a normal looking BM this morning. This afternoon and evening he’s been very stinky farting. He just had a very soft stool/pushing diarrhea with light red blood in it. He’s been at the shelter since mid January. He did have tape worm but they treated him multiple times. Most recently 2/27 there were “tape segments” in his stool so they gave him cestex that day and nothing noted since. We don’t see any worms in his stool either. He’s still happy otherwise, wanting pets. Do we need an emergency clinic asap? Could this just be stress from new home? He’s eating the same kibble but he ate whatever wet food they had on any given day, so the wet food we got likely isn’t what he’s been having. Also treats are probably different. Any advice is appreciated, thank you.
