Hot take: save scumming > assist mode for getting better

Save and quit resets the current area but spawns are almost always the same. Exceptions include goblins hiding in the bush.

Save scumming lets you confront the current challenge as it comes and pushes you to learn patterns and counters better. Assist mode removes the challenge altogether.

If your goal is to finish the game even at the expense of the game experience, assist mode is for you. If you want to accomplish the game as the devs intended, save scumming gives you the best chance to improve.

Boss rush is also good for learning boss patterns without having OP builds. Poor Lizard King finally gets a spotlight for his move set.
