Red vest

In my store, they ask regular cashiers to wear red vests and act as supervisors without any pay increase or title change. Does this happen at other stores too? Anywhere else I’ve ever worked you could get in a lot of trouble for telling someone you were a supervisor if that wasn’t your actual position.
