Some new dialogue I noticed on my 2nd watch of S7

I saw Scream 7 last Thursday during early previews, then a 2nd time yesterday (Tuesday). On this 2nd watch, there are a few specific lines of dialogue I noticed in the 2nd act that I'm not sure how I feel about.

First, when Mindy and Chad are in the kitchen with Mark and Tatum talking about what Mindy and Chad do for Gale. Chad mentions that Mindy keeps trying to steal Gale's thunder, to which Mindy replies:

"I'm the face of the future. But we have learned a lot about failing careers and unsuccessful comebacks"

In the very next scene, when Sid and Gale get a Facetime from "Stu", he tells Gale he's sorry she got fired. She replies with:

"I wasn't fired". My contract wasn't renewed"

I'm not sure what to think of those lines. That last one feels like a very direct reference to Melissa B getting let go. Any thoughts?
